Chuck,

Yes - we're writing "stories" for each passage we preach. We're brand new at this and Acts leads itself well to this (narrative). Our goal is to continue it as we go forward (Galatians in the fall). The big idea is that the kids are hearing the same "story" on Sunday mornings as the adults are - the only difference is that we contextualize it to their age.

So we have a guy here writing them, he then passes them on to the Little Pillars workers and they teach the kids the story in interactive-style. It's worked great so far. We spent a one-hour session training our folks how to do it and by in large it has worked really well.

What you see posted in the Family Guides is: Page 1: Questions and a guide through the passage for that week. This helps both parents and kids get familiar with the passage that we'll be teaching from that coming Sunday.

Page 2: The "story" or narrative (as we call it) from the prior week along with the dialog and questions used in Little Pillars the prior Sunday. This enables parents to review with their kids what they learned on Sunday.

It's really about us equipping parents. It's all out there, it's really easy to do and use - but we leave it on the parents to grab it and run with at home and then we just build on that on Sunday's. Our goal is to equip and train the parents - who are, in the end, ultimately responsible for the spiritual oversight of their kids.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you've got any other questions. Take and use everything you want and let me know if you've like to talk more with the guy on our end that is putting all of this together. He can help more than I can probably.

I pastor a A29 church in Jonesboro Arkansas. I love your approach to equipping parents and kids. Are you guys writing "stories" IMB/Soma style for each passage you preach. If so, are you using those with the kids on Sundays or just giving them to the parents?

Roll the Bones, Matt.

Ezekiel 37:3-5
And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

I'm a fellow church planter. Man, you put this into good words! I will be using these categories to figure out who I can try to move to the next step. God bless your work, and may he move people toward commitment in seeing the vision He has given you go forward.

I'll be praying for you, Todd. I hope Sunday night goes well! At my church I've now got a Sunday off every 4 weeks, so I'll probably be able to make it down to attend services sometime this summer. Looking forward to it.
