Welcome to the Project 2 Pillars Blog. Project 2 Pillars is a project to plant a new, gospel-centered, missionally-focused church in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. If you’re not familiar with what it means to “plant a church” it basically means we’re starting a new church from scratch: raising the funds, gathering the people, finding the place to meet – the whole thing.
Lord willing, our intent is to raise funds and begin the launch team assembly process this year (2009), relocate to Lincoln at the end of 2009 (we currently live in the St. Louis area), build the launch team in the first half of 2010 and launch mid 2010.
The Purpose of this Blog:
This blog was created with a three-fold purpose:
Provide a place to communicate and inform supporters (both prayer and financial supporters) of what is going on with this project.
As a church plant we’ll be networking with a wide group of individuals and organizations. This blog is intended to be a place where we can funnel people for more information about what is going on with the project as well as keep them updated on the status of everything.
Provide a way to communicate and build momentum with potential launch team members.
This blog will serve as a place where people in the Lincoln area who may be interested in being apart of Project 2 Pillars at the level of a launch team can come and get a taste for what this church will actually look like (theologically and practically).
Document our journey.
One of the main purposes of this blog is to document our journey as we plant this church. The intent here is not for this blog to become a resource detailing “how to plant a church” but rather one that communicates “how we planted 2 Pillars Church.” As such there will be nuts-and-bolts type posts (getting incorporated, gaining 501c3 status, raising support, gathering a core, etc) as well as reflective posts of a more transparent nature (what we’re going through, how we’re struggling, how we’re celebrating, what God is teaching us, how we see the gospel playing out in the world around us, etc). The reflective posts will be written primarily by me but my hope is to have my wife stop by on a semi-regular basis for an occasional post providing her perspective. In so doing, we hope to be able to provide encouragement and support to others who undertake a similar endeavor.
Thanks for joining us and please pass the word to anyone you know who may be interested in what God’s up to in Lincoln.

Todd, thanks for keeping us updated, I look forward to hearing more about this. It sounds like a good God-centered mission.
